That’s a pretty catchy title, isn’t it? No, not the one right above – the one at the top – “Ultimate Secret Survivalist Tool”

The reason a standard 5 mw laser pointer is the ultimate survivalist tool is because:

Any self-respecting survivalist is going to have rechargeable batteries.

The AA size batteries in a laser pointer will last more than a year, maybe until the batteries get bad in a few years.

It can be used for all the conditions found in the laser book: Rejuvenation:..Using the Power of Light to Increase Vitality, Energy and Healing: 11 by 8.5 inch Edition, without drugs – things like teeth and gums problems, gall bladder problems, and many more unpredictable things.

I have have found for the past year that if I use a laser pointer on minor infections, (like an “angry” hangnail,) the infection is gone the next day.*

*Okay, let’s throw in a disclaimer: This is my statement based on my own experiences. It is not intended as medical advice. I am not telling you to do this, I am just saying that I do it. This is for information purposes only. Always seek medical advice for infections.

There, that should cover it.

Photomedicine and Laser Surgery
Volume 29, Number 6, 2011

Conclusions

In the present study, the antibody-based protein array
technology was applied for screening the cytokine expression
profile following MI, with or without laser irradiation.
The present study indicates that LLLI has a protective effect
on the injured myocardium by upregulating GM-CSF and
downregulating fractalkine during the acute phase after LLLI.
In a future study, we will apply the whole proteome analysis
to analyze the alteration of more cytokines involved in inflammation
at various points in time after laser irradiation.
The cytokine expression profile after laser irradiation offers a
potential novel mechanism

Although I occasionally use my therapeutic low level laser when going through the procedures I just posted to youtube.com, these spinal neuromusculoskeletal re-education procedures work extremely well on their own. With chronic cases, it takes repeated attempts. Two or three sessions per week will speed things up. Improvement in neck and back pain, with related headaches and such, is felt immediately, and improves with each week, peaking out within 4 weeks, on average.

I made this video, (split into two parts for youtube.com,) about 5 years ago. I was 15 pounds heavier then, but that’s another story.

In this video, I give you the culmination of what I know about removing muscle memory passively. Muscle memory involves millions upon millions of sensors around the body reporting to your cerebellum. Your cerebellum is your 3D processor for your body. This is very important, although you may not realize it. Muscle memory is a huge part of what brings people to my office eventually, and it is exactly what helps Tiger Woods hit that golf ball so well. Muscle memory. Sometimes that “memory” is guarding against some spinal injury that happened as a child, teenager, or adult. Depending on how “reactive” a patients’ muscles are, the areas of stress can distort the spine. This results in “balancing” compensations elsewhere in the spine. Defense networks start forming in those compensatory areas, becoming stiff, irritated, and because of faulty bio-mechanics over many years, they can become unevenly arthritic and degenerative. Joints can wear out unevenly, like tires that are out of alignment. This can result in irratic nerve impulses, which have become distorted because of local joint irritation, inflammation, and dysfunction. These all contribute to, and are caused by misalignment, subluxation, etc… It can become a vicious cycle. It needs to be interrupted. It should be reversed.

You have an answer here to the above problems. Is it the whole answer? No. Is it a big answer? Yes.

Enjoy!

Photodynamic Therapy for Wrinkles

“Palomar Medical Technologies Inc. a maker of laser based cosmetic treatments, has received a 510(k) over-the-counter clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a new home-use laser device for the treatment of eye wrinkles.”

http://www.masshightech.com/stories/2009/06/01/daily56-FDA-approves-Palomar-Medicals-wrinkle-laser-therapy.html

All I can say about this is what I heard from a doctor on a television interview regarding this new device. It apparently has a number of 5 mW red lasers in it, similar to laser pointers you can get at Office Depot. The doctor being interviewed stated that a person must use this device 3 times a day, thirty minutes per session, for a few months to see a difference. I must say I am not impressed.

I built a device with multiple 5 mW red lasers, and gave it to my mother for muscle aches and such. She tried it on her wrinkles, and it irritated the skin around her eyes. I am sure it is not identical to the one passed by the FDA, but it probably is not much different.

There are so many uses for low level laser therapy, but it costs a lot of money to prove a company’s claims to the FDA.

That is the reason for the do-it-yourself laser book: Rejuvenation.

NeuroThera(R) is what was used in a study of Transcranial Laser Therapy. As far as I can tell from the patent, they use a 100 mw unfocused coherent light. Since the patent is going to be as broad as possible, I did not see reference to wavelengths chosen, or whether it is pulsed or not. Although a 100 mw red laser will penetrate up to 2 inches, much of the coherence of the light is lost, and my take on this is that the blood is treated, stimulated, and carries bio-stimulating effects to the surrounding tissues. If that is the case, then a standard 5 mw red laser pointer from Office Depot may work almost as well, for this and many other conditions. It is a matter of the math. It just takes longer to deliver the same amount of energy. While it would be foolish to try this during an acute stroke event, some may want to try it afterwards, when stable. This would be considered as a high unknown risk.

A New Treatment for Stroke is Showing Promise

Here are a couple of excerpts of a press release about clinical trials of putting the unfocused laser against the skin of the skull, illuminating the brain within 24 hours of a stroke, and continuing such treatment for a period of less than 3 months.

“TLT is one of the most promising new therapies that we’ve seen in a long time, especially as it may expand the treatment window for ischemic stroke to 24 hours. We look forward to commencing NEST-3 to further investigate TLT,” stated Professor Werner Hacke, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman of Neurology at the University of Heidelberg, who will join Professor Zivin as Co-Chairman of the NEST-3 Steering Committee.

A post-hoc analysis of 434 patients who suffered moderate to moderately severe strokes showed a favorable outcome in 51.6% of patients in the TLT group compared to 41.9% of patients in the sham group. This 9.7% treatment effect was statistically significant (p-value 0.044).

water. Water softeners have been repeatedly indicated to be a cause of sudden heart attacks, due to lack of calcium and magnesium. (They usually blame sodium.) One researcher concluded, “Health education could be used to discourage the use of water softeners to treat water used for drinking and cooking.”267 What about all the other minerals? Zinc, for growing young men, chromium for the young pancreas trying to keep up with all the sugar, calcium for bones, teeth, and muscles, and all the rest-gone with the water softener. Who cares out there?

Back to TMJ syndrome. Considering all of the above, one component of TMJ
syndrome was not mentioned: the pterygoid muscles. There are two pterygoids
involved with each jaw joint, and they are difficult to get at. In my opinion, the relaxation of the pterygoid muscles is a big key to muscle relaxer success. Th e pterygoids can develop trigger points inside their muscle bellies and become spastic.

One way to stretch them is to bite on your finger(s) with your fingertip back behind your last molars. Therefore, instead of biting your fingertip, you will be “gumming” your finger tip. When the jaw closes, the pterygoids are exposed, and you know it by the pain they produce when stretched/challenged by your fingertips. When you are in this position, push your fingertip up and back into the soft, tender tissue.
Stretch it as much as you can stand without injuring yourself. When you are done,
you should notice immediate relief, maybe for good, maybe for just a while.
You can also reach the pterygoids with a coherent light. (Geez, I thought I would
never get to this.)

Article Date: 15 Nov 2005 – 0:00 PDT

A report in the November Cell Metabolism reveals powerful effects of light on the adrenal glands, a finding that might explain the broad benefits of bright light therapy for a variety of conditions, including sleep and depressive disorders, according to researchers. The body’s two adrenal glands sit atop each kidney, where they secrete hormones that regulate stress response and metabolism.

The researchers found in mice that light sparks a cascade of gene activity in the adrenal gland through its effects on the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Located in the brain region called the hypothalamus, the SCN is the seat of the circadian clock, the body’s internal clock that regulates the roughly 24-hour cycle of biological processes.

Moreover, the researchers report, the gene expression changes accompany a massive surge of the steroid hormone corticosterone in the animals’ blood and brain. That hormonal response increased with light intensity, they found.

Glucocorticoids–including cortisone in humans and corticosterone in mice–play many roles throughout the body, including metabolic response to starvation, antiinflammatory immune response, and the timing of circadian rhythms in peripheral organs. Therefore, light-induced secretion of glucocorticoids may play a key role in physiological changes in the body and the brain evoked by light, reported study author Hitoshi Okamura of Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine in Japan

First introduced in the early 1980s for the treatment of seasonal affective disorder, bright light therapy has been applied to many sleep disorders, including jet lag syndrome and shift work sleep disorder, the reseachers said. Shift work sleep disorder, which affects people who frequently rotate shifts or work at night, is often accompanied by metabolic symptoms, including hypertension, cancer, and diabetes.

“In these patients, light therapy improves not only psychiatric status, but also disordered hormones and metabolisms,” Okamura said. “However, effects of light had only been established on melatonin, and the remaining powerful and broad effects of light on body metabolism and hormones remained to be clarified.”

The researchers examined the activity of the clock gene Per1 in the organs of living animals. The team found that nighttime light exposure induced Per1 expression in the adrenal gland. Further analysis of the gland revealed numerous changes in the activity of almost 200 genes, followed by the delayed release of corticosterone.

When the researchers severed the SCN, light’s effect on the gland was lost, indicating that the phenomenon is closely linked to the circadian clock, they said.

“The surge of blood corticosterone after light exposure indicates that environmental signals are instantly converted to glucocorticoid signals in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid,” Okamura reported. “The present light-induced corticosterone release may entrain metabolically peripheral clocks to the environmental light-dark cycle through its prevailing receptors located in virtually all cells in the body.”

The findings could prove of great clinical and physiological interest, wrote Ueli Schibler and Steven Brown in an accompanying commentary.

“If a light-induced pathway were also operative in humans, a question that could readily be examined by recording blood cortisone levels after light exposure, it would be tempting to speculate that cortisone-mediated synchronization of peripheral circadian clocks would be one of the beneficial effects light therapy has on patients with seasonal affective disorder,” Schibler and Brown said.

“It might also explain why bright light therapy can aid patients with other disorders–such as major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder–not typically associated with the circadian clock,” they continued.

The researchers include Atsushi Ishida, Tatsushi Mutoh,Tomoko Ueyama,Satoru Masubuchi, and Hitoshi Okamura of the Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine in Kobe, Japan; Hideki Bando of Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine in Kobe and of Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Kyoto, Japan; Daiichiro Nakahara of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, Hamamatsu, Japan; and Gozoh Tsujimoto of Kyoto University Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Kyoto, Japan.
Note the date of the article: 15 Nov 2005. That was over 3 years ago. Why isn’t this exploding all across Medicine? In my book I predict that endocrinology will be dominated by low lever laser therapy in 100 years. That is because nobody in medicine seems to care about something that will make very little money, compared to the things that will make a lot of money.

That is the reason for my book: Rejuvenation. I don’t want thinking people to have to wait 100 years for these drug-free, safe remedies to be available to them. To you.
